    Where: To be announced

The details for this event have not been determined yet, please save this date & time.

The Bab’s famous declaration that launched the Babi Dispensation and the Baha’i Era, was made to his first disciple, Mulla Husayn in Shiraz, Persia. It is marked at two hours and eleven minutes after sunset which, for us in Austin, will be at 10:34 PM. However, given the lateness of the hour, it is recommended to start the gathering earlier in the evening and set aside this time during the meeting for a special prayer.

“This night,” He (the Bab) declared, “this very hour will, in the days to come, be celebrated as one of the greatest and most significant of all festivals. Render thanks to God for having graciously assisted you to attain your heart’s desire, and for having quaffed from the sealed wine of His utterance.”

On 29 May 1892, after four decades of bountiful radiance, from the first intimation of its rising glory in the Siyah-Chal and Baghdad to its midday splendour in Adrianople and ‘Akka, the Sun of Baha—as ‘Abdu’l-Baha memorably relayed in His telegram informing Sulṭan ‘Abdu’l-Ḥamid of the ascension of Baha’u’llah—had set. Yet the setting of that Sun was not followed by the dark of night but by the reflection of its glory in the Moon of the Covenant, lighting the path ahead, towards the attainment of Baha’u’llah’s ultimate purpose: the unification of humanity.

The Sun of Truth, that Most Great Light, hath set upon the horizon of the world to rise with deathless splendor over the Realm of the Limitless. In His Most Holy Book He calleth the firm and steadfast of His friends: “Be not dismayed, O peoples of the world, when the daystar of My beauty is set, and the heaven of My tabernacle is concealed from your eyes. Arise to further My Cause, and to exalt My Word amongst men.”

Do you have friends, colleagues, or family you have wanted to invite to a Bahá’í fireside? Here is a great opportunity!

What is religion and what do we think about it? Although there is no consensus on the definition of religion by scholars of religious studies, sociologists and anthropologists, it seems everyone has some thoughts and ideas about what it is. So, what is it we call religion? Are our concepts about it accurate? Do we hold assumptions at variance with what religion really is or could be? In the Baha’i writings Abdul- Baha states. “The religion of God is one religion, but it must ever be renewed.” and He also states “Religion is not a series of beliefs, a set of customs.” Thoughts and ideas about religion will be explored with a reference to a quote from the Universal House of Justice about true religion.

“Children are the most precious treasure a community can possess, for in them are the promise and guarantee of the future.” -- Universal House of Justice, April 21, 2000

On the first Saturday of the month, our cluster grouping comes together to learn more about how we can offer this education to all in our communities and neighborhoods. All are welcome to this reflection space - current and future children's class teachers as well as friends and families who are interested in learning more about the spiritual education of children. We will share stories and learn about talking with our neighbors and friends about the spiritual education of children. Contact Navvab Taylor (512-633-0646) or Jan Emberson (512-917-2173) with any questions about children’s classes.

    First Sunday Food Project

    Date: Sunday June 5th

When: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (various opportunities, see below)

What: Monthly food purchase and delivery project

    Where: Austin Baha’i Center

This monthly social action project that started two years ago, is still going strong and we have many volunteers from outside the Baha’i community who come to the Baha’i Center every month to help with it, alongside Baha’i volunteers. The project starts before Sunday (when donations are received and some of the food is purchased). We can always use more help on Sunday (delivery day). Here are the urgent needs for tomorrow:

7:30 – 10:00 AM: Set up the tables outside, receive and sort the food (that is dropped off in pallets)

1:30 – 5:00 PM: Drivers needed to deliver the food

    Daily Noon Prayers and Devotions

    Date: Every weekday (Monday-Friday)

    When: 12:00 Noon

What: Devotions, individual initiative by the Doss family

    Zoom Meeting Link: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/815838540?pwd=aXdxQnhKaTBPSWdPVEpBcFV4bmR3dz09

    Meeting ID: 815 838 540

    Passcode: 8bq0sm

    Note from the organizer:

There is usually some fellowship and checking in on how we are doing at the first part of the meeting so the devotions, stories, and inspirational writings start about 12:15 PM in case anyone is in a hurry or with limited time. We can modify the timing of things to fit lunch hour pressures.

Anyone can come, even if only for 2 minutes just to say hello. There are no expectations.

There is a hard stop after 40 minutes because we use a free ZOOM account.
